Deep in the night, worn down by endless shifts at work and haranguing new cycles, I find it all too easy to hide from my body by submerging into the pale blue flow-state of online competitive video games’ ceaseless battles. Valhalla Nocturnes is an installation of numerous hazy color photographs produced by taking hand-held long exposures while playing games. This series of hybrid screenshots and self-portraits wanders the body's slippery and porous relationship to the screen, an abandoned funhouse of mirrors I’m lost in, ruminating until dawn in a digital Valhalla of aestheticized violence, performances of masculinity, technological fetishization, and the rapidly changing role of images in the world.
